SKIRTS, DRESSES, TROUSERS... WHAT ROLE DO THEY PLAY ON YOUR FIGURE?
Stockings play a crucial role in a woman's figure. And you know it! In fact, you resolutely opt for pieces that highlight the very special shapes of your body. And, thanks to ELORA and the advice of your favourite fashion & personal stylist sales advisor, you avoid getting carried away by a model that doesn't suit your body type...
It's clear that you prefer trousers to dresses on a daily basis... and that jeans are still your great favourites. All the more reason to be on the lookout for those trendy cuts and couture details (high or low waist, more or less close to the body, pockets or not, types of denim colour, etc.) that can enhance your style and suit your body type perfectly! Don't hesitate to visit ELORA's Jeans Bar...
How about getting away from your routine? While feeling good about your body, what should you choose, depending on your size and shape? Jeans, skirts, dresses, classic trousers or cropped, corset-style trousers? Which cuts are best suited to the shape of your buttocks, hips and legs, to give your body and your walk a slimmer, lighter look? What accessories will best accentuate your different looks? Which top is best for your body type, to be combined of course with the skirt or trousers?
WHY DO YOU NEED TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOUR BODY?
First of all, avoid comparing yourself to this or that unattainable model. Feel at ease and dare to be yourself! If you feel more comfortable, you'll glow... Adopt a positive attitude and stop saying or thinking that your body is imperfect or deformed and that none of the clothes you try on fit you..
Stop! Instead, follow our advice and you'll see the effect in the eyes of those around you.
Stop referring to aesthetic and haute couture standards! By finding the best ready-to-wear pieces in your size that seem to be made for you, you'll have style and allure. To dress with refinement, don't neglect fashion details and accessories either.
Finishes and accessories are your best allies for spicing up your looks and catching your darling's eye in all the right places. A jewel in the chest, brightly coloured bows on a swimming costume, a pareo draped over the buttocks, sequins in the back pockets, a tote bag with a long skirt, or a belt worn low on the hips all seem to have super powers!
But to choose and arrange them correctly, you need to focus on the strengths of your figure, and therefore be aware of them. That's why at ELORA, we support you, pamper you and guide you.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF KNOWING YOUR BODY SHAPE?
Almost every woman likes to refer to the latest fashion trends to find her style and choose the right look. And you're right to do so! However, being aware of your body type will be a real plus, enabling you to know, whatever your age, how to enhance your shape and hide the flaws that obsess you, rightly or wrongly.
Some examples common to many women are: a small, well-rounded tummy, hips that don't go well with slim-fit trousers, legs that aren't very shapely, and shoulders and breasts that are too small. Be aware of these, and balance your highs and lows to lighten and slim your figure.
Are you a woman who wants to make the most of her body shape and colour? You're right, because it's what allows you to take full responsibility for your body. But that's not all! By completing your wardrobe with clothes carefully selected according to your morphology, you avoid unnecessary purchases. You won't fall for tempting pieces that, once you've tried them on at home, face to face with your mirror, turn out to be unattractive in terms of shape, colour or cut.
Cultivate some good habits, such as taking stock of all the tops and jackets you really want to wear, before going out to buy the bottoms to go with them: skirts or trousers. Once again, take your figure into account, as well as the style of looks that suit you. With this tactic, you can reduce the size of your wardrobe and avoid wastage.
You'll see theimmediate effect on your wallet and your morale. There's nothing more frustrating than wearing tops, skirts or jeans to a garage sale that you've only worn once... and then only reluctantly!
SHOULDERS, HIPS.... DEFINE YOUR FIGURE!
Every woman is unique. So how can you identify with one of the"typical morphologies"? Follow the guide!
The first thing to do to find out which body type you belong to is to look in the mirror and note which parts of your body are the widest or the thinnest: your hips, shoulders, waist? You're not having a check-up, let alone scheduling cosmetic surgery.
Note that we're talking here aboutbone structure and stature. If you naturally have a wide pelvis and hips, nothing can give you an androgynous figure! Conversely, a little bulge here or there won't change your body type.... That's why it's so important to accept yourself.
Let's focus first on the triangle shape, the most common, and its opposite: the inverted triangle.
The most common morphology is type A (known as "pyramid" or "triangle"): slim bust (defined waist, small chest and narrow shoulders) and rounder pelvis/buttocks/thighs. It is therefore important that clothes give volume to the upper body, while remaining sober below the waist, to refine the silhouette. For bottoms, choose
- dark colours, especially black
- straight cuts to avoid volume
- fluid fabrics, not too puffy or too close to the body
- plain colours, rather than stripes or prints!
The V-type ("inverted triangle") morphology, on the other hand, corresponds to: broad shoulders and/or a generous bust, with narrow hips and a small buttock. In this case, it's best to minimise the volume of the bust, while emphasising the slimness of the bottom. Stockings in particular can be allowed:
- All types of skirt that create volume: bias skirts, pleated skirts, lace skirts, etc
- All shapes of trousers: from slim to bootcut
- A belt at the waist to emphasise slimmer hips and legs
- Bright colours, prints, frilly fabrics... anything goes!
CHOOSING CLOTHES TO SUIT YOUR SIZE
The art of finding clothes in your size? It all comes down to self-confidence!
Trousers that are tight around the thighs and float around the waist? Dresses with bust darts that aren't positioned at the right height? Jackets that fit at the hips but don't button up at the bust? Coats that look tempting but have a fur collar that makes your face look dull? Denim jackets that are too baggy at the shoulders? etc. The answer is no, because you deserve to wear clothes that fit you. The answer is no, because you deserve clothes that fit you well. You need to find them, even if it means getting some expert advice!
Bear in mind that, whatever your body type, wearing something that fits well is one of the keys to well-being and self-esteem.
Avoid regularly exposing yourself to a situation that can undermine your self-confidence. If you know perfectly well that a certain brand of trousers doesn't suit you, don't insist. Concentrate on dresses or jackets if you know that, in principle, they suit your body type.
Don't trust the labels, try the garment on for size! Depending on the cut (oversize, loose or close-fitting) and the country of manufacture, the size advertised may vary considerably. You're usually a size 38 but you feel small in that jumper? Are those jeans bulging at the hips? Try a size up, or even 2 sizes up! The most important thing is that your garment shows you off to best advantage, not that the label says S rather than L..
WHICH STOCKINGS TO CHOOSE FOR A FIGURE 8?
Finally, let's talk about the figure 8. These are luscious women who simply have to enhance their curves to be the stars of an evening or ceremony! Among the most famous of the moment are, of course, the Kardashian sisters, who are the icons...
What is a figure 8?
A woman with a figure 8, also known as an "hourglass figure", is lucky enough to have shoulders and hips in the same alignment, as well as a slim waist. It's the pin-up figure that most women dream of, because it suits almost everything.
By emphasising the shape, particularly around the bust, and emphasising the waist, you can create looks that are as elegant and refined as they are sexy. The same goes for swimwear! A two-piece with a plunging neckline will show off a full bust and hips. A simple black swimsuit will also look great, transforming the wearer into a siren.
Stockings to choose for a figure 8
Here are a few dress and skirt cuts to add to your wardrobe:
- Dresses that are fitted at the waist, close to the body in the pelvis and thighs
- Skater dresses and skirts
- High-waisted straight skirts
- Cigarette skirts
And for trousers:
- Straight, high-waisted or regular-waisted trousers
- Cigarette trousers
- fitted corsairs
- low-rise jeans, with a top tied under the bust or a bolero
