Vdi agent or vdi buyer-reseller. Which should you choose?
When you sign up with a Direct Sales group, you may be offered 2 types of contract: VDI agent or VDI buyer-reseller.
The VDI agent contract
This contract gives the seller the power to take orders from its customers on behalf of the company with which it has a distribution contract.
The VDI buyer-reseller contract
This gives access to a quantitative discount on the purchase of products that the seller will then resell and deliver with a profit margin.
It is difficult to choose one type of contract over another. While a buyer-seller contract allows you to set your margins as you see fit, an agent's contract means you don't have to deal with storage and retrieval problems, but you are bound by the margins set by the company.
We advise you to carefully consider the type of product you want to sell. For example, an agency contract is better suited to products that require you to build up large stocks, such as ready-to-wear or lingerie. On the other hand, a buyer-reseller contract is better suited to selling products with unique characteristics, such as accessories or cosmetics.
