The seller's obligations
SHOULD I DECLARE MY INCOME TO THE TAX OFFICE?
Yes. It is compulsory for all employees to declare their income to their tax office. VDI status is no exception to this rule and you must adhere to it from the end of your first year in business.
DO I NEED A DRIVING LICENCE TO DO THIS?
Yes and no. Even if it's not compulsory to have VDI status, you should be aware that you'll have to travel a lot, sometimes with products that can be bulky. It is therefore strongly recommended that you have a driving licence and a vehicle.
CAN I BE TOLD WHERE TO WORK?
No. As VDIs are self-employed, no geographical area can be imposed on them.
DO I HAVE TO MEET A MINIMUM SALES QUOTA?
No. Because VDIs are self-employed, they don't have to meet any sales quotas.
I'M TOO BUSY AND NO LONGER HAVE TIME TO DEVOTE TO HOME SELLING. WILL I BE PENALISED?
No. As there are no sales quotas, VDIs can take a break from their activity whenever they like.
