Become a clothing VDI for Elora
27 MARCH 2019
Direct sales of ready-to-wear clothing are on a roll: they have rapidly become a dynamic growth sector. Many people are interested in making a living from their passion, especially women.
At Elora, the VDI job is open to everyone, whatever your experience. You are paid according to your personal investment and you organise your time as you wish.
Are you interested in the VDI status in fashion and wondering if you can become a freelance home seller for Elora? We'll give you some advice on how to get started in home selling.
The prerequisites for becoming a fashion VDI
First of all, you must be of legal age and not be banned from running a business.
This status can be compatible with a permanent or fixed-term contract (with the agreement of your boss), except for specific clauses in your contract. However, you cannot start a VDI business if you are a civil servant (with some exceptions), a public or ministerial officer, an auditor, a chartered accountant, an architect, a surveyor, a lawyer, an auctioneer, an administrator or a court-appointed agent.
Finally, you need to be passionate about fashion and organised, so that your job becomes a real pleasure every day.
Elora clothing VDI: our 4 top tips
1 - Be sociable
If you're going into home shopping, communication is the basis of your job. You'll need to tell people about your business to expand your network, communicate on social networks, organise private sales with several people and be comfortable speaking to advise your customers. Don't hesitate to reach out to people if you want to develop your VDI business.
2 - Be independent and want to be your own boss
VDI is similar to self-employment: you are your own boss. Organise your days well so that you don't get distracted by other activities, and keep your schedule up to date.
Tell yourself that you're really working and that it's important to set "office hours" that suit you. Finally, don't be afraid to tell those close to you that you are unavailable during your working day, so that they don't bother you at any time of the day.
3 - Be passionate and know your subject
If you choose to be a fashion VDI, it's because you're passionate about the world of ready-to-wear. Selling clothes direct should be a pleasure above all else, so live your VDI experience to the full!
It's also important that you know the brand, its products and its values so that you can advise your customers properly. At Elora, we'll help you get to know our collections and our world.
4 - Support and training
When you start a new business, it's important to be surrounded by the right people to help you. Elora will train you in the best sales and organisational techniques. Our advisers are also there to share their experience with you and support you in your business. You're not on your own!
