Meet a model!
Justine Nikolaïev, model and face of Elora
21 MARCH 2018
If her face looks familiar, that's normal! Justine Nikolaïev has been the model and face of Elora, the home fashion brand, for several years now. She embodies, with grace and elegance, the fashion pieces that the creative teams come up with each season. Today, she takes you behind the scenes at Elora, on the catwalk and during shoots... meet Justine Nikolaïev!
Hello Justine, can you introduce yourself in a few words?
Of course! My name's Justine, I'm 23 and I've been a professional model for 4 years now. I was brought up by two very career-minded parents whom I followed on their adventures and numerous moves. They gave me the desire to travel, to see the world, independence and above all ambition.
What do you like best about modelling?
I'm lucky enough to make a living from my passion! The biggest plus in our profession is above all meeting people and travelling. We work almost every day with different teams, in different places... sometimes insolites.Nous we have the chance to meet different cultures, share memories and often unique moments. It's a rich experience!
And conversely, what do you like least?
Jetlag! Or the lack of simplicity. Relationships can be very superficial.
How does it feel to be on a photo shoot or on a catwalk?
For me, the sensations are different during a shoot and a show. During a show, you generally prepare all day for 30 seconds on the catwalk. The pressure is on just before you start. It's short, but intense! On the other hand, you need to have stamina during a shoot. The teams are calmer and more approachable. You have time to bond and share! And don't forget that we produce content that will be used over the long term.
How did the Elora adventure begin for you?
We started working together just over 2 years ago - time flies! It was during a shoot in Lyon for the Summer 16 collection.
Can you tell us more about the organisation of shoots and shows with Elora?
Elora is a big family! We often work with the same teams, which helps us to bond and understand each other. It's always very pleasant and humane. I remember our last experience in Marrakech, which was a real treat!
What are your three favourite Elora pieces?
I love the Palma & Pandore dresses from the latest collection. And the Peplum jumpsuit. Very fresh, very bohemian chic!
What do you think are the essentials for a good look?
I focus a lot on the basics, adding accessories, often a pair of shoes, a nice coat, but my essential: the trouser suit!
In everyday life, are you more into jeans and trainers or stilettos and a little dress?
Joker! One or the other... I reinvent myself every day!
What are your fashion inspirations?
I'm very inspired by Céline, Jil Sander and Saint Laurent. I like to see a strong image of women. Fitted, minimal cuts that are both classy and discreetly sexy.
And finally, what are your future plans?
I'd say continue to feel alive, to enjoy what I do. Modelling, acting or something else. The future will tell!
