24 JANUARY 2024
The colour of the year 2024: a soft peach tone called Peach Fuzz
In 2024, we'll be peachy! The Pantone Color Institute has revealed the colour of the year, and according to this world specialist in colourimetry and graphic art, it's "Peach Fuzz", a shade full of tenderness and serenity. It's sure to be a hit in fashion, decoration, homeware and design in general.
Every year since 1999, the experts at the Pantone Color Institute have revealed the colour that will serve as the benchmark for design and art for the following months. At the dawn of 2024, Pantone has announced the colour that will inspire future trends: Peach Fuzz, a soft peach hue reminiscent of comfort and serenity, in the spirit of community living.
This is an important announcement, as 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the now unmissable "Pantone Colour of the Year" programme. The timeless shade Peach Fuzz, listed by the pros as PANTONE 13-1023, incorporates warm harmonies between pale pink and soft orange, offering a sense of comfort that resonates with our need for closeness, intimacy and renewal.
A colour that enhances fashion and interior design!
This pastel, vitamin-packed shade is sure to lift us out of the dreariness of everyday life and give us a new-found optimism, in harmony with a radiant natural world. Whether you think of it as pink or orange, it's both a delight for the senses and a message of optimism and tenderness, with romantic notes and a hint of vintage. It's a perfect match for our desire to enjoy life, taking care of ourselves and others. Delicate, gentle and kind, it evokes a feeling of empathy, offering a warm and elegant note that will enhance the whole house, from our interior to our dressing roomThe result? A fresh, elegant look in the colours of fruit and the rising sun. Used in make-up, Peach Fuzz will enhance golden and matt complexions, as well as reviving tired faces. Does peach suit you? In principle, yes, as we can see from the colourimetry, it's a powdery, almost universal shade, suitable for almost all skin types, so you don't have to think too hard about it...
We're trying to forget white on our walls! The famous paint brand Tollens, which has extended its range to include a special collection of colours and decorative products based around Peach Fuzz, explains that the softness of Peach Fuzz brings harmony to our senses of sight and touch, while its fruity nuances send signals to our sense of smell and taste, inspiring us with ideas for sweet, delicate scents... The designers at Tollens point out that the colour Peach Fuzz subconsciously seduces our taste buds and makes us want to bite into life, to grasp it with both hands.
As the Pantone Color Institute explains: Faced with the chaos of our lives, it feels good to come together in a community, and even to touch ourselves, in every sense of the word. So if you, too, are tired of connecting remotely, not only for a purchase, payment or delivery, but even to post a photo on Instagram or chat with friends and family... Make the most of the "fishing trend" and get together face-to-face, at home. Sometimes it's good to say goodbye to "please hold"... and never leave each other again, for good!
A perfect look with "Peach Fuzz"?
Even if they've remained discreet, peach colours have been spotted on the catwalks of more than one famous haute-couture house, during the spring-summer 2024 fashion shows (which took place in 2023), notably at Milan Fashion Week, as well as Paris Fashion Week. In particular, they have made their presence felt in small ways on accessories and luxury products: bags, shoes, costume jewellery, clutches and handbags, as well as knitted cardigans.
They're set to explode this summer, but they're already making their style statement, with a sober edge. Depending on your body shape, don't hesitate to combine a large peach knit (cardigan or scarf) with trousers or a satin dress in the same shade, with a daring nude effect. And to get you started, why not wear a headband in your hair, a bonnet or big earrings?
Take a look at the latest collection from ELORA, who have also delicately incorporated the colour Peach Fuzz into their selection of printed patterns (folk, paisley or patchwork), offering us a beautiful bohemian spirit.
