How to dress with style during pregnancy
10 DECEMBER 2021
When you're pregnant, your body changes and so does your wardrobe. Even if it's for the best of reasons, you need to feel beautiful and comfortable more than ever, so there's no question of leaving your style in the wardrobe!
There's no need to invest all your savings in new clothes: all you need to do is make the right choices and select the essential fashion pieces. Elora gives you her advice on how to stay stylish throughout your pregnancy.
Mums-to-be, choose comfortable clothes
The bigger your belly gets, the more comfortable you need to be. To keep in style while still feeling like you're in pyjamas, opt for comfortable basics. These basics are a mum-to-be's best friend! They'll be with you throughout your pregnancy and even in the post-partum period.
So we recommend investing in a flowing dress, a stretch dress, leggings, stretch T-shirts, knitted jumpers, flowing blouses and one or two pairs of maternity jeans. Take a look through your current wardrobe and we're sure you'll already find a few wearable pieces like leggings, jackets or flowing blouses.
Materials to choose for pregnant women's clothes
Fabrics are also very important when choosing your maternity clothes. They need to be comfortable, easy to wash and, ideally, environmentally friendly.
Mothers-to-be are particularly exposed to fabric damage due to their more sensitive skin and to chemical substances. What's more, synthetic materials encourage perspiration. We therefore advise you to opt for clothes made from more natural fibres, with fewer chemical treatments and eco-responsible manufacturing processes.

Among the best eco-friendly fabrics to choose when you're pregnant, you can turn to :
- organic cotton: very soft, it has also become affordable and can be found in many clothing collections.
- linen: a very good choice, as it has the advantage of being thermo-regulating. Whether it's hot or cold, linen will be comfortable to wear throughout your pregnancy!
- tencel (or lyocell): comfortable and silky to the touch, tencel is produced from natural materials without toxic treatments. Fluid, it's a fabric much appreciated by pregnant women

Style ideas for pregnant women
Pregnant women: what to wear in winter
Pregnant in winter? It's actually quite easy to find something to wear without breaking the bank!
Take a look in your wardrobe for loose-fitting jumpers and oversized cardigans. When it comes to jackets, you can keep your favourite coat and pair it with a big, soft knitted scarf if you can't zip it up any more.
For shoes, opt for flats or low heels for maximum comfort. Boots and ankle boots will be your best allies this winter. For bottoms, there are several options. You can invest in maternity jeans, pull out your long skirts with elasticated waists or opt for leggings.
The must-have for cold weather? Warm faux-leather leggings or a long skirt, teamed with an oversized cardigan in camel tones and flat-heeled ankle boots!

How to dress for spring when you're pregnant
Spring brings warmer weather, but the rainy days and chilly mornings are still with us. That's why it's a good idea to combine lighter outfits with warmer pieces to ward off the cold.
There are several options for mums-to-be. You can choose a stretch T-shirt like the timeless marinière, to wear with a soft cardigan, leggings or maternity jeans and your favourite pair of white trainers.
You can also opt for a maxi dress, which is very comfortable to wear when you're pregnant. Add a perfecto or faux leather blazer and you'll have a look that's 100% fashionable and comfortable.

How to dress for summer when you're pregnant
In summer, flowing dresses are a pregnant woman's best friend. They're very comfortable to wear, and you don't have to think too hard when choosing your outfit. They'll have you dressed in no time, and you're guaranteed to get compliments!
When it comes to cuts, you can indulge yourself. Stretch dresses show off your pretty tummy, while fuller or flowing cuts are best with a V-neck or wrap-around to reveal your bust. All you have to do is add some jewellery, put your hair up, bring out your pretty sandals and you're done.
A long skirt, paired with a flowing top and hat, is also a great option for a comfortable, stylish pregnant look.
