How do you find your own style?
28 APRIL 2021
It's time to take stock of your current wardrobe. Do you find that it doesn't quite suit you and you'd like to completely redo it? To do that, you need to find your style, so you can buy clothes that suit you and your body. Here are a few tips to help you find your own style and select the clothes that suit you best.
Defining colours for your new style
When you're looking for your own style, the first step is to identify a few colours that you like and that you'd like to see on your clothes. Neutral or coloured shades, don't hesitate to opt for slightly unusual colours such as red or green, which can enhance your complexion. When you go to buy your new clothes, keep your colours in mind, as they will help you make a pre-selection in shop.
To define your colours, look at the ones you wear the most and the ones you like the least. You'll then know which colours you prefer and which ones you can't match.
Accept and love yourself as you are
There's no need to buy an item of clothing on the promise that you'll lose a few kilos so you can wear it. Generally, they stay at the back of the wardrobe, and when the kilos are actually lost, we don't like them any more.
On the other hand, buy clothes in your size that make you look your best, and that allow you to love and appreciate yourself as you are right now. Later, if you lose weight, you can buy clothes in your new size.
Learn to play with your body shape, finding out what makes you look and feel good. Feeling good in your clothes is the key to self-confidence and finding your own style.
Are you tempted by fashionabletops but afraid to try them on? Take the plunge and see how that top looks on you. If it doesn't fit, you won't have been entertaining a fantasy for several months, and you'll know for sure. It's by testing that you find your look.
Sometimes we like certain trends but they don't really suit us, and vice versa. Fashion is also full of surprises.
How do you try on clothes to find your own style?
When you look in the mirror, you can sometimes be taken aback and feel a little lost. Trying on clothes you're not used to wearing is a crucial part of building your own style. That's why it's a good idea to ask yourself a few questions when you put on a garment:
- How do I feel in this garment? Is it comfortable?
- Could I wear it today? Can I easily combine it with the rest of my wardrobe?
- What about care? Where was this garment made?
These questions will help you decide whether the garment is worth buying in terms of the number of times it will be worn.
Seek advice to find your style
If, despite everything, you're having trouble finding your own style, don't hesitate to get advice from a ready-to-wear salesperson or an image consultant. At ELORA, you can take part in home sales workshops during which the fashion consultant will be there to answer all your questions and help you choose the clothes that best suit you and your own style.
