Our tips for
Dressing for your body type
09 FEBRUARY 2017
Having trouble finding your style? Petite, tall, slim or curvy? Still haven't worked out which body type you are?
Find out how to make the most of your body type and choose what suits you best!
It's not always easy to want to look good when you don't know your own body type. We're all different, with our faults, but above all with our assets, and our stylists can help you make the most of your figure according to your body type.
Whether you're an eight, an A, an H, a V or an O, find out what our fashion experts have to say.
My body shape is an 8
The "8" represents the feminine ideal. The "8" woman has rounded shoulders in line with her hips. The waist is marked and you shouldn't hesitate to emphasise it with belts or slim-fitting cuts. It's important to emphasise your waist, it's your main asset!
We like: stoles, wrap-around shapes, fitted dresses and jackets.
Don't wear: pleated skirts and trousers with side pockets that make your hips look bigger, jackets that don't fit, wide trousers and puffy skirts.
The must-have pieces: the BACHELOR floral dress, the BIZBEIGE safari dress, the BONUS shirt dress and the BAC loose trousers.
What's in them? There's nothing like a straight-cut shirt dress or safari dress that you can belt. The aim is to emphasise the natural balance of your body shape with fitted pieces and then add a belt.
I have an A shape
In short, you're a pyramid. Your shoulders are narrower than your hips and your trousers are often bigger than your jackets.
Remember that the best part of a pyramid is the top. Perfect! So focus your eyes on the top! Play around with pretty, colourful or patterned necklines. If you don't have much bust, opt for a bateau neckline to widen your shoulders.
We love: V necklines, patterns and colours. Shapes that are close to the body, but not tight!
Don't wear: Horizontal stripes, especially at the bottom, otherwise you're guaranteed a bottle effect! Tight tops, baggy trousers and pleated skirts.
Recommended outfit: PAPENOIR cigarette trousers, BOCAGE straight shirt and BOGOTA belt.
Why this outfit? Opting for a straight shirt will add volume to your upper body. And if that shirt has a touch of originality, all the better. This shirt, with its jungle print, devoured pattern and play on transparency, will enhance every look.
My shape is H-shaped
Your waist isn't very pronounced and you're more of a lanky type. Your hips and shoulders are in the same line. You don't have much of a waist and it's essential not to emphasise it. Loose-fitting jackets and long empire dresses are for you!
We like: Straight shapes, empire dresses, tops that show off your cleavage, straight trousers and skirts, knitted tops and belts that fall to the hips.
Avoid: belts that are tight around the waist, wrap-around shapes and flared skirts.
Our recommended outfit: the BENGALE jacket, the BOUCLIER crepe carrot trousers, the BRIKAKI lingerie-style camisole and, finally, the engraved BOLIVIE faux leather belt.
Why this outfit? Because your waist isn't too pronounced, you can afford to adopt a more androgynous silhouette. And what better way to do that than with a suit? Our flowing printed jacket will show off your structured shoulders. To create the illusion of a high waist, we recommend wearing our lingerie-style camisole with a light jacket and adding a belt.
I'm a V-shaped woman
If you're V-shaped, it's usually because you're athletic. Your waist is wider than your hips and, unlike the 'A's, your jackets are bigger than your trousers. Although the athletic build is also advantageous, it's important to look away from your broad shoulders.
We like: Trousers with side pockets, straight skirts or trapeze dresses, flowing, feminine tops.
Avoid: thick jackets, horizontal stripes, tops that enclose your chest or broaden your shoulders (turtlenecks, boat necks, etc.), hoods and down jackets.
Recommended outfit: BOSS cigarette trousers, BORDORE straight-leg waistcoat in gold, BONZAI long ecru waistcoat and belt.
Why this outfit? When you've got a V-shaped body, the best thing is to opt for length to add volume to the lower part of your body. That's why our long, straight cardigan will be your main ally. As for the trousers, their straight cut and the slit at the bottom of the leg will help to add relief to your look.
My shape is O-shaped
You're an apple. Let's face it, you're curvy. But so what? As beautiful as other body types, apples have more difficulty finding fashionable clothes that fit them. But it doesn't take much to make an apple look very attractive. More than ever, apples need to wear clothes that fit them, not misshapen clothes or clothes they want to hide in. Loose-fitting clothes are a disaster and ruin your figure. If there's one body type that makes other women furious, it's the apple! In apple, we dare! Always show off your décolletage in style and dare to use big accessories. Fashion effect guaranteed!
We like: décolletés that go all the way down to the bustline (never lower - you want to be seductive, but never vulgar!) straight skirts that cover the hips and thighs without bulging them. Go for black and matt materials, and monochrome outfits if you like colour. Dare to go for a total white look, for a guaranteed fashion effect. If you opt for a total white or black look, add a touch of colour to your accessories or shoes.
Avoid: stripes, large prints, overlays, miniskirts, low-rise trousers, trousers with darts, short jackets, Bermuda shorts, short tops and closed jackets.
Recommended outfit: the BLUES green V-neck blouse and the BOOM flowing pencil skirt.
Why this outfit? Because this outfit is sure to enhance your figure! The V-neck blouse will lift your look, while the straight, flowing midi-length skirt will elongate your figure while slimming it with its smocked waistband. Finally, all you have to do to spice up this corded look is choose the right accessories.
