How do you dress for work when it's hot?
What should you wear to work in summer? - Elora
24 JUNE 2020
Dressing for work during the summer can be a tricky business, as you can quickly fall into over-casual outfits that resemble holiday looks. What's more, not all jobs require the same dress code!
To help you choose your outfits, Elora has put together her top 5 favourite looks for going to work in summer, depending on your style and your company.
The peppy, classy look
You can never go wrong with carrot trousers and a blouse!
Carrot trousers are a timeless essential for any professional wardrobe. To avoid being too simple, opt for carrot trousers in a flashier colour and a lightweight fabric so they don't get too hot. Pair them with a slim, flowing white blouse to accentuate the stylish yet professional look.
Depending on your job, opt for :
- a small pair of white trainers for a more casual look
- a pair of brown or beige heeled sandals to elongate your silhouette
Our selection:
Poppy red carrot trousers 20veropop
Off white flared shirt 20vegan
Cognac leather heeled sandals 20vomero
A timeless classic
If there's one classic that will never go out of fashion, it's cigarette trousers paired with a structured suit jacket. Choose navy blue or beige for easy-to-wear colours.
If you don't want to be too classic, you can choose tailored cigarette trousers with a pattern that stops just short of the ankle.
We advise you to wear a tailored T-shirt so you don't get too hot while still looking professional, and to wear a 3/4-sleeve jacket in the morning or in the office if there's air conditioning.
Ideally, wear it all with heeled sandals with thin straps for a 100% on-trend look for work!
Our selection:
White and grey cigarette trousers 20verdict
Blue suit jacket with 3/4 sleeves - 20vetobleu
Blue organic cotton T-shirt with lace 20 varencre
The casual yet chic style
The casual yet chic style is becoming more and more common in office jobs, particularly when there are no client appointments.
The ultimate casual look is still jeans. But don't choose just any jeans! Forget ripped models or baggy shapes. Go for straight cuts and quality pieces.
Pair them with a small, worked T-shirt (with lace, for example) or a structured, white T-shirt to withstand the summer heat. You can also wear a suit jacket with a comfortable cut for cooler mornings.
When it comes to shoes, it's up to you! Either go all out for a casual look with a pair of trainers, or break up the look with a pair of pumps or heeled sandals.
Our selection:
Light blue straight-leg jeans 20varan
Off white short-sleeved T-shirt with tunisian collar 20vitesse
Black and off white tailored jacket 20vogue
The comfortable eco-responsible look
Eco-responsible materials and natural colours have never been so fashionable! They're the perfect choice for your professional wardrobe.
Fluid beige trousers cinched at the waist are the perfect way to endure hot days at work and still look stylish. Pair them with a small top in shades of gold for a trendier look.
To avoid looking too casual, we recommend wearing a small pair of open-toe heels, in beige or light brown to keep with the natural colours. If it's cool in the morning, don't hesitate to add a nude jacket, again in light, basic tones.
Our selection:
Fluid beige jogging-styletrousers with elasticated waistband 20vertigo
Short-sleeved linen tee with v-neck 20viscara
Short zipped cotton biker jacket 20voilier
The dress, always a good idea
Dresses are and always will be a timeless part of the professional wardrobe. But it's important to choose the right one!
To find the perfect dress for work, it's best to opt for sophisticated models.
Floral patterns, flowing dresses and short cuts should be avoided. We recommend dresses in plain colours, straight or slim-fitting (wrap dresses, for example), with short or 3/4 length sleeves more suited to summer.
Our selection of dresses perfect for going to work this summer:
Blue crepe fabric wrinkle-free wrap dress with ¾ sleeves 20vifbleu
Cream lyocell 3-hole straight dress 20victoire
Coral wrap dress with wrap collar and short sleeves 20volcora
