Why not become a VDI personal stylist?
Is it possible to become a personal stylist without a degree?
10 JUNE 2020
A personal stylist (or personal shopper) will accompany her customers on their shopping trip andadvise them on their choice of outfits. She knows the basics of colour matching and knows how to bring out the best in all body types by matching her clients' personalities. She can work directly on her client's wardrobe to make a major selection. The personal stylist then assists them in their shopping and choice of looks.
If fashion is your passion and you'd like to help people find their style, have you thought about becoming a personal stylist? At first sight, it may seem scary, and you're probably thinking that you need the right qualifications. However, this is not necessarily necessary if you opt for the status of VDI (independent door-to-door salesperson) and work for a brand that supports you in your project.
Personal stylist: when should you choose VDI status?
Becoming a personal stylist or personal shopper as a VDI can be ideal for several reasons:
- To earn extra income
You can become a VDI alongside your job if it allows it. In this way, you can earn extra income from home through a professional activity that you really enjoy.
- Become independent without risk and manage your schedule as you wish
Many people want to embark on the great adventure of entrepreneurship. However, the risks involved and the lack of job security can be scary. With VDI status, you have a real contract with the brand you work for and you benefit from the social protection offered by that company.
- Career transition
At some point in your life, you may want to change your life to finally do the job of your dreams. VDI status is perfect for this, because it allows you to try out the activity you like without having to have any qualifications. Companies working with VDIs often offer training courses to introduce their home-based sellers to sales techniques.
Personal stylist as a VDI: what you need to know
As a VDI personal stylist or personal shopper, you offer your customers clothes from a single brand that you have chosen. So make sure you work for a brand that speaks to you and shares the same values as you do.
You'll enjoya special relationship with your customers because you'll be holding sales meetings in small groups - the ideal way to get to know them! In addition to a morphological and colourimetric study, you need to identify the character and needs of your customers. You won't suggest the same type of outfit to two women if they have completely different personalities, desires and lifestyles.
