Home sales: an eco-responsible profession?
13 NOVEMBER 2019
Are you interested in the world of ready-to-wear, but value environmentally responsible practices? You can combine the two by becoming a home sales assistant!
If you're concerned about the environment and want to find a job that reflects your values, home shopping could be just the thing for you. As a door-to-door salesperson, you can take action for the environment on a daily basis.
Elora explains how home selling can become an eco-responsible profession.
1 - Choose a committed, responsible brand
It all starts with choosing the brand you're going to work with. We advise you to choose a company that resembles you and that has values that correlate with your principles.
If you want to become a fashion VDI, you can work with a brand that is committed to reducing waste, favouring made in France and developing clothing ranges in more responsible fabrics (organic cotton, green wash denim, etc.).
2 - Limiting the transport of goods
Committed retailers propose to reduce their carbon footprint by taking action on the transport of their collections.
For example, they can offer to send orders for the same sale to a meeting in a single journey, and to group shipments to sales advisers over just one or two days.
3 - Reduce journey times
When you organise sales meetings, you bring together women from the same area or even the same neighbourhood. They don't have to travel miles by car to get to the nearest town centre.
As a result, journey times are reduced, traffic jams avoided and distances travelled shortened. Don't hesitate to encourage your customers to come on foot, by bike, on a scooter, etc... if they can, or to opt for car-sharing.
4 - Promote good environmental practices
Being a home sales assistant is the ideal way to make your customers aware of the importance of protecting the environment!
Highlight the quality of the products you sell to limit over-consumption, raise awareness of more ecological washing practices (avoid unnecessary washing, fill the washing machine, etc.) and don't hesitate to tell them that they can recycle their clothes by reselling them or donating them to associations instead of throwing them away.
At Elora, we make a daily commitment to the planet and do everything we can to improve our ecological footprint. Find out more about our commitments!
