The main advantage of working as a VDI is the status. The salesperson is not employed by a company, but works as a self-employed person. To do this, they have to set up their own company. In most cases, they will be covered by the general social security scheme, just like any other employee. VDIs are free to offer their services to one or more companies, depending on their wishes and availability. They may be offered two types of contract: an agency contract or a buyer-seller contract. In the latter case, the seller must buy each product in the current collection to build up his stock.

The VDI profession offers a great deal of freedom. As a self-employed salesperson, you can organise your schedule as you wish, depending on your personal schedule and the availability of your customers. They can choose to work full-time or part-time, in addition to a salaried job. They take charge of their own communications and marketing to canvass new customers. Social networks are a highly effective platform for reaching new targets.
Once they have signed their contract, VDIs are usually invited to attend a training course given by consultants who already have experience in home sales. This is an opportunity for them to ask questions and receive lots of advice on how to convince consumers to buy their products. They can then schedule their first presentation. How do you organise a door-to-door sales meeting? The door-to-door salesperson has to find a hostess who is willing to welcome him or her and prepare a sales pitch.
