Becoming a self-employed home sales assistant
Would you like to end your contract as an employee and become self-employed, or find a part-time job to supplement your income? If so, home-based selling is for you! Becoming a VDI means being able to organise your schedule as you wish, so that it coincides with your personal life plan. What is home selling? How is a home seller paid? How can I be a good home seller? Elora, a company specialising in home fashion sales, tells you more.
How do I become a home seller?
The first step in becoming an independent salesperson is to set up your own business. In most cases, VDIs are self-employed and have self-employed status. They then offer their services to a company. They are covered by the self-employed scheme and pay social security contributions to URSSAF. Note that this activity is regulated by the Commercial Code and the Consumer Code, not by the Labour Code.
Once this status has been created, the self-employed salesperson can start looking for a company to work with. It is vital that VDIs choose a company that shares their values and offers products they like. Many companies are now looking for new salespeople in the fashion, beauty and cookware sectors, so the consultant is spoilt for choice. However, there are a number of criteria to bear in mind before signing up with a company, including the benefits it offers, the type of contract it proposes (VDI agent or buyer-reseller) and the level of remuneration. It's worth noting that income from self-employed salespeople is generally paid in the form of commission, which corresponds to a percentage of the turnover generated by product sales.
Become a home sales consultant with Elora
The Elora fashion company offers a wide range of freelance salespeople the chance to join its team and promote its quality products. The company offers an agency contract (rather than a buyer-seller contract), so that a new salesperson does not have to invest money before she has even started her business. The company lends the sales consultant a starter kit containing every product in the current collection.
The VDI benefits from personalised support over the first few weeks. The aim? To help them make as many sales as possible and increase their turnover. They receive training in the home sales profession, during which they are given tips on how best to present products to customers. A mentor is on hand to answer questions and provide support during the first product presentation meeting.
As far as income is concerned, Elora sales advisers are paid between 20% and 30% of their sales. This means that the business can be pursued on a full-time basis or as a sideline to earn extra money at the end of the month. Each independent salesperson can also take part in challenges to win lots of prizes. After several months or years of work, a VDI can even take a management training course to become manager of a team of salespeople.
