Do you have a full-time (or part-time) job as an employee in a company and your income is struggling to cover your expenses? Then it's high time you started looking for ways to supplement your income! While the internet is full ofideas for earning money, the only really viable solution is to combine two activities. Are you allowed to have a second employment contract? Do you have to tell your employer? How do you find this second job? How do you get organised? Elora answers your questions!
IS IT POSSIBLE TO HOLD TWO JOBS AT THE SAME TIME?
As an employee, you are perfectly entitled to have two employment contracts, provided that the total number of hours worked does not exceed the legal maximum. This is set at 48 hours a week, or 10 hours a day. Before you start looking for a second job and responding to offers, make sure that your employer has not included an exclusivity clause in your contract. Note that people working part-time cannot be subject to this clause. You should also be aware that you are not legally entitled to engage in any activity that is deemed to compete with that of your employer.
You also have the option of combining your salaried job with a self-employed activity, for example by setting up your own business. In this case, only the hours worked in the company where you are employed are counted, so you are less likely to exceed the legal working hours. It is strongly recommended that you inform your employer of the creation of your business to avoid any potential problems.
HOW DO YOU FIND A SECOND JOB AS AN AUTO-ENTREPRENEUR?
There are several ways of finding a second job when you start up your micro-enterprise, but they can be more or less effective depending on the services you offer. The first is to consult and apply for job vacancies posted online by companies on recruitment websites. You can also create your own website to showcase your services and skills so that you are visible to your target audience.
You don't yet know what field to set up your own business in and you're running out of ideas? Do some research on the internet to identify the most promising sectors, such as home shopping. A host of companies are now offering jobs to people who want to work as a VDI (Vendeur à domicile en indépendant) to boost their income. All you have to do is find a brand that shares the same values as you, and go to its website to submit your CV.
